Aircraft Mechanic

Surdex, a leading aerial survey company, located in Chesterfield MO, is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic to join our team. This is an entry level opportunity for a new graduate with an Aviation Maintenance Certificate to learn while pursuing an A & P rating.

The Aircraft Mechanic provides maintenance services on Surdex aircraft, under the direction of the Director of Maintenance (DOM), with the objective to provide the highest levels of safety and maximize the available flight status days for each aircraft.  The aircraft mechanic performs inspections, preventative maintenance, modifications and repairs using specialized equipment in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations, manufacturer's recommendations, technical manuals, and industry standards. 

Essential Duties:

  • Report on parts inventory availability of critical components to ensure unscheduled maintenance impacts are minimized as much as possible.
  • Maintain aircraft appearance, both exterior and interior to support Surdex's image as a quality, precision supplier.
  • Maintain a comprehensive record system of all maintenance work performed on each aircraft to comply with the Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Provide for the security, care, and maintenance of the hangar, Surdex tools, and other equipment in support of the hangar activities.
  • Ground-run and taxi all equipment in the Surdex inventory as trained and authorized by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Support the maintenance department by insuring that all internal records to track aircraft and equipment squawks, diagnostics, repairs, parts, inspection, and return to service information are properly recorded.  Provide supporting daily time card labor records and parts inventory reduction as required.
  • Help accommodate peak loads by working overtime and weekends when needed
Ideal Candidate:
  • A & P rating or Aviation Maintenance Certificate to train for A & P rating
  • Attitude and work performance that demonstrates Safety and Quality First attitude
  • Strong written, reading and verbal use of the English language
  • Maintain positive relationships with employees, vendors and customers
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize 
  • Be available to travel as required to meet Surdex mission objectives
  • Available to work overtime as needed

Essential Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The ability to access file cabinets/shelving, aircraft undercarriage at various heights.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception
  • The ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights up to six (6) feet
  • The ability to occasionally work outside during all seasons of the year
