GIS Technician

Surdex is seeking to hire a GIS Technician to join its growing team! The GIS Technician is responsible for final processing and quality control of mapping products including project set-up with process descriptions, translators, directory organization, and data archiving.

Essential Duties of the GIS Technician:

• Process data from collection to editing and to delivery format
• Perform geometry (topology) and attribution quality checks using various GIS software packages.
• Create final products for delivery
• Metadata creation
• Follow and maintain ISO Documentation
• Keep data directories clean and organized.
• Review all data files, organize, and prepare for archive
• Notify manager of project issues to ensure quality objectives and deadlines are on track

Position Requirements for the GIS Technician:

• Bachelor's degree in Geography, Geospatial Sciences or related field strongly preferred
• Combination of related coursework and work experience considered
• Working knowledge of ESRI products, AutoCAD and Microstation
• General knowledge of GIS processing and editing
• Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills and ability to learn new products
• Normal color vision in low lighting
• Ability to work overtime
