Manager, Aerial Imagery Acquistion

Surdex Corporation, located in Chesterfield, MO, provides best-in-class geospatial services and products that continually exceed our customers' expectations. One of our services includes acquisition of digital imagery and data captured by our flight crew - pilot and aerial photographer.

We are seeking an Aerial Acquisition Manager who is responsible for managing the aerial photography staff, supporting flight planning and crew scheduling, informing appropriate managers about project status and ensuring all equipment and systems are functional.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manage all staff-related matters for the aerial photographer team, including hiring, assessment, training, document administration and employment decisions
  • Learn all the sensor equipment systems to ensure functionality, train staff, and operate on projects as needed
  • Prepare Flight Schedule and deploy crews in conjunction with other flight team leaders
  • Manager production priorities, job status and equipment resources
  • Prepare and maintain ISO Work Instructions and Skill Matrix

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience managing in a production-type environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical program of study - Engineering, Geospatial, Aeronautics
  • Related college coursework plus relevant employee management may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree
  • Exceptional teamwork, verbal communication and ability to document technical processes
  • Strong critical thinking to solve complex problems and provide solutions to management
  • Ability to work on weekends, nights and out of town as needed

Preferred qualifications in addition to requirements:

  • Knowledge of flight, aerial acquisition or geospatial industry
  • Experience working with a workforce in the field
  • Knowledge of ISO quality process

Essential Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must reside in St. Louis or be willing to relocate
  • Available via cell phone Monday-Sunday during working and non-working hours
  • Available to adjust personal schedule as necessary to meet seasonal demands in workflow
  • Ability to travel out-of-town in Surdex aircraft to assist with training as needed
  • Ability to stretch, bend, sit in confined space on aircraft and lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in varied temperatures, altitudes and noise conditions
  • Ability to pass DOT drug tests, criminal history and motor vehicle background check
  • Must have a U.S. Passport or the ability to obtain one
