Surdex is a leading provider of geospatial data and mapping services, and our talented pilots lead the effort to acquire imagery and data. We have a fleet of 11 aircraft including single and multi engine piston and turbo-prop.

We currently have a single engine piston (C206) pilot position available at KSUS. You are required to live in the metro St. Louis area.

This position has a dual role - you will be a Pilot on some flights and Aerial Sensor Operator on others. Generally, you will attain about 300+ flight hours per year as the Pilot. The role of the Sensor Operator is to ensure that the cameras and sensors obtain clear, accurate imagery and data while in flight.

The flight rotation schedule is 15 consecutive days on rotation (out-of-town) and 6 days off. The schedule is pre-planned and off-duty time includes a weekend. During the rotation, you will fly in various locations throughout most of the continental U.S.

We chase blue skies, which means the day starts early and some days may be long. At times, you will be required to reposition the aircraft to maximize good weather, so adaptability is critical.

The Pilot and Sensor Operator work as a team to:

  • Ensure the aircraft is airworthy and airspace permissions are obtained
  • Prepare and coordinate flight plans and project details
  • Monitor weather and ensure opportunities are not missed to acquire data
  • Precisely fly grid patterns, maintaining situational awareness of aircraft and airspace
  • Execute day or night photo/data acquisition with maximum efficiency

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Commercial Pilot certificate, multi-engine and instrument rating
  • 300+ hours total time with high performance and complex endorsements
  • 2nd class medical, passport and driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass DOT pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug tests
  • Must have a personal credit card with minimum of $3,000 available credit all expenses are reimbursed weekly (commercial flight, hotel, rental car and meals)
  • Team player committed to doing high quality work
  • Must be able to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CFI, CFII, MEI
